Buyer, beware!
Unfortunately it seems that Parcel Hero use illegitimate business practices to extract additional charges after your package has been delivered. A month AFTER delivery we received a £43 "surcharge" for an "oversized" item, even though it was thoroughly checked on our end. This surcharge was more than the item originally cost to ship and was taken without notice, so it seems like Parcel Hero are storing card details for the purpose of this illegitimate practice.
I understand that surcharges can be applied as part of their terms and conditions, however in no way is it made clear that payment details are going to be stored and payment automatically taken without notice. This leaves you on the back foot, having to chase them despite you being the "customer".
Speaking to a customer service representative called Mark Taylor, unfortunately he has been unwilling to answer the majority of my questions (such as providing a breakdown of the surcharge).
I would not recommend Parcel Hero to anyone, with much better alternatives readily available - who do not use poor business practices to steal money from their customers.
Booked a collection from Crete Airport
Got zero feedback as to collection status.
Had to email to get an update.
Established that parcel was not collected.
Given an alternative courier option at a discounted rate or cancel.
Chose to cancel and was charged £6 for the privilege.
Net result,
£6 lighter and parcel still in Crete 🤔
2 out of 3 orders I have placed with parcel hero have not been picked up on the requested day. Then it was my job to reorder collection, too late for next day pick up. So we chose to deliver it to a local collection site, at a cost to me, to save the stress of it not being collected on time again. Their answer when I contacted customer services "it's not 'guaranteed' for collection that day, you have to pay more for that". This is not made clear on the purchase page. Frustrating to say the least. I won't use them again and will order direct with the courier for greater reliability.
Paid Parcel Hero £18.71 to send a small (1kg) parcel to Queensland Australia.
They quoted a reasonable price for the packet. Paid the money, but still have not been sent the labels to send! this is after some 10 hours! I would expect to be able to print them instantly, so that I could dispatch.
The only way to contact them is via email (as usual), with no contact telephone number.
So. Not such a Hero after all.......
I recently returned from holiday in Alghero , Sardinia and stupidly I left my sunglasses and reading glasses in the car rental at the airport. Thankfully they were found but how was I to get them back to my home in the Uk . Using Parcelhero was so simple , putting in the pickup address and then the delivery address is comes up with various prices based on how quick to want the delivery . You pay online so no transferring money and behold 7 days later I received the items in my home. A little pricey for 2 glasses at £33-00 , but that’s what happens when you’re forgetful.
I made a booking for a collection by UPs - was confirmed collection would be the following day. I waited in all day and at 5 decided to check with UPS - they hadn’t received the collection request, so I had no option but to drive 25 miles to drop to UPS (I wouldn’t have been home for over another week so couldn’t rearrange)
According to parcel hero, it was my decision not to wait and drive to UPS - they don’t seem to have grasped that UPS hadn’t been informed to collect.
ParcelHero has been brilliant, right up to the delivery day when for some reason Parcel Hero's Tracking Info wasn't updating telling me I needed to pay for customs clearance which I'd already done. Consequently I rang DHL who suggested I check through their own website which showed the package had already been delivered.
Otherwise a great service, and a much better price than sending with DHL directly.
Parcel collection booked for Friday 10/06/22 failed to take place. Took parcel to drop-off shop on Saturday morning 11/06/22. They refused to accept it because nothing had been collected from them either and they had no storage space. Suggested I bring it back on Monday but could not guarantee they would be able to accept it then either. Totally fed up, and due to urgency of despatch, I cancelled the ParcelHero order (incurring a £6.00 cancellation charge) and am now using ParcelForce instead. Will not be using ParcelHero again.
Parcelhero will try to remove bad reviews to hide their bad practice.
Within the last twelve months, Parcelhero shipped a printer I sold on ebay. They:
-charged me £68 excess on £48 'overweight' delivery
-ignored my evidence that the package was not overweight
-sent me confidential responses meant for another customer
-destroyed the printer
-refused a refund
Good news though!
After my use of the Money Claims service online (small claims), leaving it to the absolute last minute, Parcelhero have refunded me in full.
It is worth the trouble, even though they make it as difficult as possible.
In the circumstances, I can find nothing to recommend about this service.
Very easy to book a collection, easy to print off the documentation, driver arrived well within the time slot, was very cheerful, confirmation emails received to say documents have been delivered to the correct person at the correct location on the day requested.
Will definitely be using them again.
Great service thanks.
My first time getting a parcel to be delivered the process was very easy, but the driver who picked the parcel up was not helpful at all,I suffer from a heart condition, and can’t lift anything heavy, the parcel weighed 30 kilograms and he wanted me to put more banding on the parcel to make it more secure but was reluctant to help,I found him quite rude and unhelpful
while the collection price was very competitive the driver who actually collected the shower tray (which was wrapped in its original packaging) said "theres no chance that will not get smashed!"..I received an email a few days ago from victorian plum saying/showing pics & details that sure enough it arrived at there wherhouse smashed in a few bits..wow how crazy is this..now I have to go thru a compensation procedure & the 1st think on your list is "if the original packaging isn't damaged but the item inside is its my fault & was packaged insufficiency "..I never even took it out of the original packaging as it was the wrong size & would need returning & replacing..any help or advice going forward would be welcome.
Hi Performed all the tasks that were specified such as taking photos of the measurements of the box and label which I think is really good just in case it gets lost or broken. I sent an expensive large parcel and the price was really competitive and the parcel got there in one piece and on time. I would definitely use this company again.
Quite disappointing really was given collection address that was no-longer a Co-Op in Brackley then website would not allow me to change the collection address and when i did it actually cancelled the first booking (which was fine) but then charged me again, when on of the advisor told me would only charge me the difference of the booking, was told would get a refund, doubt i will use again very poor communication only via Email
Parcel I sent was completely smashed and almost impossible to find a contact or any customer services no response from customer services on either Parcel Hero or DPD. Just sent round in circles on self help pages and conveniently broken URL links and missing pages to any claims pages on the website. We had to give up and save our sanity. In a world of mindfulness it seems to be lacking towards customers.
I had booked a collection of a package from another party for it then to be delivered to me. The schedule confirmed the details along with the tracking number. Unfortunately the courier did not collect the package - no apology, no contact whatsoever. So the following day I selected the option to cancel and was advised by onscreen message I would receive a refund of my fee.
Today I received a further email advising that the package had been collected and delivered - a date and time was given. This was pure fiction. I asked the third party to send me a photo of the labelled package to prove it was still in his possession.
The problem now is ............ you've guessed it ............. no refund has been issued and it is impossible to contact anyone at Hermes/Evri. This is back to the bad old days of "cheap" couriers. Fine if all goes well, but if it doesn't there is no follow up. I've lost my fee - okay, been cheated out of it by Evri - I would strongly advise prospective customers to weigh up the attraction of a competitive price against the very real difficulty of sorting things out if something goes wrong. I'll never consider using Evri again and I'll be recommending to friends and colleagues to avoid this company. Why did I enter one star? well it was the only way to access the comments section. Evri definitely doesn't rate even one star - very poor organisation: solely profit orientated, certainly not customer orientated. Steer well clear!!!
Unfortunately a very carefully made wooden box was badly broken, in various places, due to careless handling. The contents was heavy but nevertheless there were multiple "Fragile", "This way up", "Handle with care" stickers that it seems were ignored. Happily the contents of the box was undamaged. Apart from this all was good.

I used the service to return 4 boxes of flooring. 3 didn't arrive - the driver agreed it was fine to send them as separate boxes with the same waybill number as easier to handle - now Parcel Hero and UPS are both saying that was my responsibility (yes - you read right - now I am not a customer but I have responsibilities and they are my bosses!). The 4th arrived looking like it had been run over by a lorry. In fairness it probably had given how little care they took. Not Parcel Hero's fault because it was a UPS service but, even though I had insured the contents - they are refusing to pay out and blaming me for it all. Shocking, shocking service. Next stop Trading Standards!!
